Good to see bubbles enjoying art
That's a fackin' decent painting, boys
That’s Conky in that painting!
Sméagol has got your belly.
I'm honestly surprised he did go a different, fluffier direction..
Why are you making a joke like this? The artist put his time, effort and passion into this painting and this fantasy-nerd just defiles it by painting in Gollum. What a complete lack of respect for the original painter.
Are you new on the internet?
Nice b8 m8
They do not see what lies ahead when sun is faded and moon is dead
A faded Eye of Sauron way off in the distance wouldn't be out of place now would it?
Hahaha maybe I should add that!
Pleeeease do sir
It went from hotel art to something I dearly want in my living room, with a few strokes of your brush.
This is precious.
This is so awesome! Great job!
I would love to see the eye of Sauron off in the distance! Do you plan on adding to it?
What's paintings precious?
pain. tings. Paint em, frame em, stick em on a wall?
New favourite thread.
Have you posted this in r/repaintings ?
that's amazing haha
Nice going DAVE.
Wow that's such a good idea for thrifted painting, I wish that I could paint so I could do the same 😅 Good job man!
I bet you’d make a killing selling stuff like this on Etsy.
A definite improvement!
A necessary contribution to the world of art. Thank you, Sir
Love it. Both because the picture reminds a lot of the ones my nan used to keep in her house, and, well, SMEAGOL
+1 for an excellent title
It would make an excellent birthday present, precious.......
😂I loooove it!!
Whoa, what a cool idea!
I think I’m gonna go look for some cheap scenic paintings like this and just add stuff to it.
Thanks for the inspiration!
Dude!! That's an original chrysanthemum!' You fool!
I wish adding a five-century old halfling worked every time.
Fuck that's amazing.
My friends and I recently got a painting of a cabin at a snowy lake, and added in a AT-AT, Tauntaun, and Wompa.
I've been looking for a mountain face near a lake painting to add The Doors Of Durin to, but haven't found anything worthy yet.
You from Portland or something?
I like the painting even without him. Good choice of canvas to create an even greater masterpiece!
That really looks like a painting of Letchworth State Park viewed from the archery field.
The gunks. Skytop at mohonk
I think this might give out your first name? Just as a heads up! Awesome pic!
Hahaha yeah. I'm Dave. No worries.
Your last name isn't Pollot, is it? ;)
What else do you have going on in that background?
I own a vintage store and do a lot of these. Behind me is a Game of Thrones, Dr. Who and a Krampus print!
Sure, it's clever, but hasn't it already been done to death? Not the first time, not the hundredth time, that we've seen this kind of thing. I agree that it feels like it's in poor taste/disrespectful, but I also agree that nobody cares about thrift-shop landscape prints. The frames, maybe, but not the prints.
Is this the only kind of painting you do? Do you make other stuff? Or is this kind of like your niche? Genuinely curious.
Looks more like Iron Maiden's Eddie.
I LOVE IT
That's great. I love it.
Its like the last man on earth tv show lol
Add some crunchable birdses into the trees.
I would buy that
Man if that artist ever becomes famous you just lost a lot of fucking money ruining one of his portraits.
I never even thought of adding things to thrifted paintings, this just opened up a whole world of possibilities 👀, pretty dope 👌 OP
Jesus. That painting was beautiful.
It says "Dave 18" on it. REALLY hoping you didn't do this to a 100 y/o piece of art.
As a lifelong painter, my biggest fear is that someone will do this bullshit to something I painted.
Would love to see someone like this go on Antiques Roadshow and find out the painting would have been worth 100K, had they not painted some lame crap on it for internet attention.
Nah hahaha I always do my research. Moore Smith isn't that prolific and this was just a print! Thanks though!
Glad you researched. Still, I wish you wouldn't. Someone else might have enjoyed that print as it was. Also, you're encouraging other people to do this and they might not research. Most of all, it's disrespectful.
Can you imagine Tolkien approving of this sort of thing? I really can't
It looks like dave might be op considering how new the paint looks.
Haha yeah, it's my painting.
This is a very common thing to do. I have a similar one in my bedroom with Calvin and Hobbes in it.
It is pretty common. Doesn't make it right though. Reminds me of those people who go to national parks and knock down stone formations.
How often is it that telling someone to "calm down" proves to be effective at calming them down? Not very often, I'd wager. Instead, what might be more helpful is try to understand why they feel that way, and use that as a starting point for a conversation.
I really love what he did this piece. I do hope he made sure it wasn't some famous painters work, but if not its not worth much to someone who has no sentimental value to it. I'd just be happy someone was still enjoying my art in whatever way after it was sitting in a thrift store or garage for who knows how long.
