Last night my cats chased each other across our bed at 3AM, using my legs as traction for their claws so they could go faster.

With this big boi you’d be getting stitches real quick.

Last night my cats knocked my keys off my nightstand and started playing fetch with it, while dragging it across my hardwood floor at 4AM.

my Cat is three months new. Woke-up to finding his new pp spot behind my dresser at 4am last month. I got the area cleaned up and put an extra little box where he was going. It worked! he uses box now....except last nigth I work up to hear the cat peeing and I ylled at 3am "Dexter! No!" then he gave me that ear back look while peeing....and I was like "oh my bad kitty, pee on." then immediately passed back out.

Most important thing to prevent the cat from peeing in that spot again is to get rid of the odor. Get one of those pet stain & odor removers that breaks down the smells, otherwise they might keep going in that spot.

Removers. They breakdown the enzymes in the urine. I used to have a problem cat who liked to pee in laundry and that stuff was my best friend. I can't remember the name of the brand I used, but they're easy to google.

I've used like over 2 gallons of vinegar and so much fucking baking soda in a bunch of old stains in a carpeted room in my basement that I NEVER go in. Seriously the entire carpet was basically one big pet stain at this point.

My husband puts the stuff from his pockets on his dresser.. Yesterday they were golf balls and tees. My sleeping brain heard the tiny 'tink, tink' and couldn't process. If I had I could have braced myself for the cold hard CRACK!!!! Rolllll from the top of the 5 ft dresser to the hard wood floor... Then said asshole chased it out into the hallway and down the also wooden stairs. I am appreciating my old fat cat a lot right now.

My cat just knocks shit over because he's 28 pounds, has one eye and has never progressed beyond the toddler stage. He just discovered the closet door two and a half years after moving into our new apartment and spent an hour staring at it and meowing since he'd apparently never noticed it before.

autthespot93

Well I guess maybe I swam with my dog a lot growing up. The chances that I would swim with my cat are zero to none. Also the water is very cold where I live so a cold deep scratch that bruises me? In my opinion can be worse than some of the small ones on my hand I have gotten from my cat. Cats definitely do have knife like claws and it totally sucks when they really get a hold of you. I think I am just surprised that not many people have bad dog scratch stories because I have many scars.

Properly socialized cats don't use claws on humans. Unless unnecessarily provoked. I've looked up the technique to socialize kittens before we had a litter (two litters actually) and applied it. The people those kittens went to complain that they're almost too sweet and cuddly.

Oh the nightmare!

No but I understand, we don't all want the same kind of pets, which is good because not all pets are the same.

While with his ex one of my sibling had a cat, always glued to a human, climbing on them, demanding pets and all that, and it must be exhausting.
In the same vein at one point a Maine coon used to visit me, she was either sleeping or wanting to be played with so she'd use her claws on my chair to demand attention. It was exhausting.

I want the goldilock cat, dunno if it exist...
Meanwhile I'm fostering, that way cats can reveal their nature and prospective families know what to expect.

TrollinTrolls

While with his ex one of my sibling had a cat, always glued to a human, climbing on them, demanding pets and all that, and it must be exhausting.

Wait... you're leveraging this at cats? Demanding pets? Climbing on people? Did you mean to write the word dog?

I mean yes, my cats are super affectionate, but they're way more subdued than any dog would be. If you find cats exhausting, I can't even imagine how you must feel after hanging out with a hyped up dog.

dinolalonde666

I have a cat similar in behavior to that description and trust me, it's annoying and exhausting. It's a 24/7 affair whether you're awake or not, and Milo doesn't take no for an answer. A hyped dog will eventually run out of energy, at least in my experience.

PatatietPatata
2

Well, imagine that cat from the video but as a small vocal tuxedo cat, and glued to you every moment you are in the same flat as him.
It's exhausting whether it's a cat or a dog or a human toddler.

Compared to that I had the chillest foster recently. Dude sleept and was ok being picked up but didn't seek pets, played maybe 10 minutes a day (up from 0 minutes when we got him).
He even napped while on the vet's examining table.

It’s because people don’t train their cats to not use claws and teeth. With dogs, you see the same issue - many small dogs have no manners but big dogs are generally more well behaved.

Granted some cats learn slower than others, but I’ve got 2 cats who never scratch me. Unless I intentionally rile them up. But that’s like building a fire and then being surprised when it gets hot.

He's not wrong... but I hope he's kidding.

When I got my cat Rita from the shelter, I chose her a few days before I could pick her up (she needed to be fixed, first), and once I picked her up, she'd caught a nasty upper respiratory infection from one of her neighbors in the shelter.

At home, she was in bad shape. I had to spend a bunch of money, and a bunch of time, getting her healed up enough to even eat. And once she'd had enough food to eat, I was able to take a stool sample at the vet's direction, which revealed that she also had giardia.

Curing a cat of giardia requires a special medicine that you can only get at a Compounding Pharmacy, so I had to drive for an hour to get to the closest one, then hand-feed her a dropper of the medicine twice a day. She hated that stuff, but it made her better.

Ever since then, she has been incredibly affectionate with me. I think she knows that I saved her life.

Same, have a very loving cat. You can’t play games without them jumping in your lap and clawing the controller or phone away from you. It’s adorable as shit though after the first 30 minutes it gets annoying.

My cat loves belly rubs, demands to be held like a baby, want’s his toe beans massaged, has to have my belly for a heating pad, and he has to put his forehead against mine and leave it there while purring loudly. If I stop, he grabs my hand and pulls it back to him.

My husband's cat would do that. If we did anything other then immediately pet her after being gone for a weekend she would sit with her back to you for a few hours of pouting.

My cat likes to sprawl across my chest while I'm on my laptop, if not across the laptop itself. The first part's ok. The second, less so.

Sometimes she'll settle for laying beside me and using my hand as a pillow, though.

Noooope. My needy cat can probably sit and be held for much longer than 15 minutes. We joke that he's a dog trapped in a cat's body.

About the only time he doesn't volunteer to be held is when he knows he's gonna get a medication. 😂😂😂

Wear an article of clothing so it gets your smell on it rather well, then put it in their favorite sleeping place. They'll be happy to snuggle somewhere that smells like their preferred person. That could help a little with some of the clinginess. It's worth a try.

Here's the thing. You said a "a lynx is a bobcat".

Is it in the same family? Yes. No one's arguing that.

As someone who is a scientist who studies lynxes, I am telling you, specifically, in science, no one calls bobcats lynxes. If you want to be "specific" like you said, then you shouldn't either. They're not the same thing.

If you're saying "lynx family" you're referring to the taxonomic grouping of Felinae, which includes things from cheetahs to cougars to jungle cats.

So your reasoning for calling a lynx a bobcat is because random people "call the medium sized cats lynxes?" Let's get Maine coons and and Ragamuffins in there, then, too.

Also, calling someone a human or an ape? It's not one or the other, that's not how taxonomy works. They're both. A bobcat is a bobcat and a member of the lynx family. But that's not what you said. You said a lynx is a bobcat, which is not true unless you're okay with calling all members of the Felinae family lynxes, which means you'd call tigers, Mr. Mittens, and other cats "lynxes", too. Which you said you don't.

It's okay to just admit you're wrong, you know?

Do you have any info on it being bs? I thought the quoted text was going to be some kind of proof but asking for support for a YouTube channel isn't proof they're lying about the bobcat's story

ts_asum

There are videos of the cat as a young kitten. The cat is 5 years old and iirc the kid is 12. (In the OP video). So unless a 6-7 yo went and saved a kitten from a fire, the whole “cat saved by kid” thing is BS.

XXX-XXX-XXX
33

Well for a couple things. If it were true, the bobcat would still be a wild animal, and therefore not comfortable inside a house, furthermore, the cat would not be comfortable around any other people than the kid, and would not be so calm with the camera person.

ledge_and_dairy

It is a wild animal raised in captivity. It was saved from fire (or something similar) when it was very young and it wouldn't be able to be re-released into the wild. Again, that makes it a wild animal living in captivity.

Hang on, all you are doing is posting him giving a number of (his) facts, no insulting or lying there.

So all you did there is chat shit. Got any actual evidence? Remember, it's up to you to prove this claim.

crayonscooby
30

His YouTube channel is pretty sad, he keeps asking for donations for his "film career" and doesn't understand why videos of himself aren't getting through same views as the videos of his bobcat.

Bobcat died, by the way. He was forced to give it up because you're not allowed to keep wild animals as house pets (not sure why he didn't take it to a rehab facility/sanctuary in the first place) It died a few days later.

southieyuppiescum
11

Why did it die

crayonscooby
5

Because they raised it like a family pet instead of taking it to a rehab center in the first place, so it got too used to a certain lifestyle. The stress of such a major change probably killed him.

This is why you don't raise wild animals like bobcats as house pets. It's ultimately better for its well being for it to have minimal human contact.

LightCodex
3

If an animal was hand raised by humans from birth or a young age they almost always don't do well in the wild because they haven't developed the needed survival habits.

It's one of the main reasons why zoos don't release their animals back to the wild. Rehabilitation facilities for injured, already wild, animals though will typically release them back to the wild unless their injury would harmfully impact their ability to survive.

Here's some googled results to support this: BBCearth Nat Geo Animal Asia

Agreed! My maine coon pretends to bite me on the back of the heel. He gives me this look after like “see, I could if I wanted to!”

There is no pressure, he just puts his teeth on your skin to show you he can, but when he moves away, he still drags across the skin and his teeth are so sharp they will still cut and bleed.

So his whole “see, I could if I wanted to!” is really a “see what I can do, even when I’m not trying to hurt you!”

(And god forbid the damage loving biscuits can do too!)

Cute until it bites his head off. Wild animals are meant to be in the wild. Added: these animals even though raised in docile environments, still have natural instincts. It makes me sad when people adopt these animals as pets and then get rid of them because they either become too big - or too dangerous to have around families.

My F3 Savannah does this. A few times Every day and sometimes just after I have been in another room for a short while. He usually starts over salivating at the same time and Finds a blanket to suck.

I believe the cat is just marking the kid as part of his territory or "group." There are glands in the cheeks of most cats that they use to familiarize themselves with others they come across. It's called "bunting" and sometimes they do this after encountering a rival.
