In most cases, those leaders aren't in charge of the most powerful nation on the planet. Unfortunately, Trump's stupidity can and has had global repercussions. I feel like given our position on the world stage, we should be holding our leaders up to a higher standard than "Oh, he hasn't broken any major human rights laws yet." Sadly, a significant portion of American voters seem to think otherwise.

What would you say the worst things he has done are? Personally I'm not a fan of him but I certainly dont think he's the span of satan. I understand that he can be rude and impulsive or make decisions many people disagree with, but I don't understand the perspective that he is a legitimate dictator or regularly breaks laws, etc

Firebird314
11

Well, he has likely committed several varieties of fraud, and has been accused numerous times at various points in his career of sexual assault and rape. He has also gone on record with comments that are quite racist, sexist, homophobic, etc. So there's that. He also has been outright inflammatory toward countries such as China, North Korea, and Iran, and even toward some of our allies when they do things he doesn't like. He has shown sympathies to Putin and Russia, threatening our national security. He seems to be pathologically ignorant, to the point where he doesn't even pay attention to his own security briefings. In short, I think he is entirely unfit for many, many reasons to be President.

Edit: It should be noted that in no way do I think he compares to truly despicable dictators like Hitler or Stalin who murder their own citizens. That is an entirely irresponsible comparison.

GreatApostate

Muslim ban.

Seperating children from parents at the border. Siding up to and legitimising Putin's takeover of Crimea. Siding up to Kimmy, who like Putin has a big list of Crimea against humanity under his belt. Putting anti-choice judges in the supreme Court. Trade war with China putting the whole world in an unstable economic state. Undermining the media, which will likely have long term consiquences.

Doesn’t mean I want to talk about them all the time. The sun affects everything all the time but that doesn’t mean I limit my discourse to the sun. In fact, I think it’s vitally important to be able to NOT talk about politics. To spend all of your time worrying and obsessing over the political scene is way more stress than any one person should try and deal with. It’s healthy to let yourself take a break from it (which isn’t to say “fuck politics” - you should still continue to be informed, but don’t let it take over your life)

Not when you have people in concentration camps and the DoJ stating white supremacy is becoming just as much as a threat as Islamic terrorism. Not when you have an executive that turns away refugees of hurricane destroyed areas, all because they're not white and your president is implementing russian foreign policy to destablise the entire west.

Reddit is a primary news source for some, collating news from around the world all in one place. Despite comment astroturfing (deflect, deny, find something else to talk about/troll) its a VERY good source of political and sociopolitical news.

By professing publicly you "hate political discourse in America" you're also politicking? lol

limitbroken
15

1) Get lucky.
2) Avoid publicly owned companies wherever possible. Good bosses can be found there, but corporate capitalism always refines towards maximum profit, so kind and generous management usually winds up either getting pushed out whenever it's convenient, pushed out after an acquisition or takeover, or permanently trapped in a cycle of fighting tooth and nail for every benefit for their employees until they burn out. Not to say this is a 100% guaranteed occurrence - but the statistics generally don't favor it.
3) Make sure you get a face to face meeting with your potential boss during your interview. If you're after a position that traditionally doesn't, ask anyway. (Caveats apply where it is otherwise unfeasible, but for most cases it should be possible.) If you're even a halfway decent judge of character, there's so much you can learn in a short amount of time.
4) Did I mention get lucky?

I don't get days off, 7 days a week. Even asking for a single day here and there (I've had 2 days off in 6 months, about to get another I requested for Mexican independence day) gets major sass from my boss. Granted he has to work my shift so I understand it, but yeh. A lot of the days I get off he calls me in anyways and gives me another day soon (sometimes that soon is as late as 2 weeks later).

What's worse is wherever he covers my replacements shift, he is ridiculously late. I'm talking he's been 4 hours late before. There was a time where my replacement had 4 days off. He came in an hour late and an hour and 30 late all 4 days. Shits nuts. At least he pays.

I've been with them for almost four years now and there have been some tough days, just like in a "real" family but every time things don't work exactly the way I would prefer, I have to remind myself that nothing is ever going to be perfect and I am extremely unlikely to ever find a better match.

It always very quickly became "well now you owe me this" or "if you don't do this then I'll quit". It broke my heart to let so many people go after their attitudes at work got really aggressive, but regardless my husband and I still continue to treat every employee like a friend and like a valuable asset to our company, because one day we hope someone is thankful the way you were! I know it was said again and again but still, your 100 dollar bill looks ridiculously fake. Looks like someone applied white corrector and printed a big 100.

I used to work in a tire shop back when I was 18-19. The store manager got a Christmas bonus every year, but nobody else got one. He solved that problem by giving everyone a $100 bill out if his own pocket.

My previous boss was pretty awesome. Told me before I got laid off he didnt want to lose me as an employee because I pulled more weight than the others. First time I was ever told that and it made me feel much better about my work ethic

Expected it to be from a man to a woman... This actually makes me sad. OP, glad your boss hooked you up.

If this was for a female, there would have been stipulations... "I'll hook you up, if you hook me up..."

Not to be offensive or anything but the 100 on that bill looks like it got Photoshopped in. I initially thought that it was prop money.

Servers get taxed on credit card tips, and even have to payout people such as the busboys and bartenders. Tips are considered employee wages. This is what my last paycheck looked like....please tip your servers (preferably in cash) lol

People need to stop downvoting.

USA applicable information: Many servers tip out 50% or more of tips, and are working at less than minimum wage. I wish more people had compassion and understanding of how a tip is not a bonus, it is paying a server’s living wage because their employer is not. People who disagree with tipping should kindly understand that it is part of the agreement of being a guest at a restaurant and is not “optional.”

Glad OP is not a server and has an employer who values them and has “tipped” as a true bonus.
