I think this is generally what they're trying to do with 50v50. They said that they were reworking it to be more team based and promote building giant bases with your team.
This is THE power fantasy I think a lot of us have with how this game should go. Here's some points to get there that this would help with.
No random team members dying early.
Even team fights, excluding disconnects and/or douchebags.
More predictability with the circle so you can setup earlier.
Currently it's a crapshoot in 20v20v20v20v20 if you're going to even have ONE team setup in a base. It's fairly rare and usually involves a team and other stragglers pushing Retail Row while the other team has leveled it and set-up due to a graceful circle.
More structure in the beginning of a match will result in a much better mid thru end game.
Also, more communication would be helpful. Sometimes you need bandages or even a weapon and your mate from another squad has all of it in masses. No Voicechat, maybe a new emote wheel for 50vs50 or maybe show the health of nearby teammates.
we literally won a game by looting retail row and building a giant base which was the direct center of the circle in 20 man lol
Everyone is still going tilted..
All teammates drop at tilted: 90% chance of loss All teammates drop literally anywhere else: 90% chance of a win
It is mind-boggling that all of the green arrows that I am playing with refuse to stop fucking dropping there.
Have to make the buses vertical, then only one team gets tilted.
Tilted is the call of duty crowd Everywhere else is the rpg/any other FPS crowd
If they want Base wars I think the best strategy would have auto generated bases already populated so that players would be more inclined to build and add onto an existing fort
The fact that they are really bringing it back remodeled makes me hard
Just imagine how Tilted Towers would be, split in half..
Would be cool if the map split randomly. So it wasn’t always split perfectly horizontal. Like if the line was pinned in the exact middle and the line rotated around that match to match.
It really just needs to be tilted slightly from OPs gif. So it would split snobby and retail in half as well
The orange has the main building, I legitimately dont know how to feel about that
You mean Trump tower?
When it says cannot cross is it going to be a storm on the opposite side or will you physically not be able to cross it?
Would be kinda cool if it was unshootable/crossable and as soon as the first circle drops all chaos breaks loose! Everyone would have building materials/ loot and no randoms could die early
Would make tilted gameplay interesting
if you cross you’re in a storm that does 25 damage?
I just want a game mode where everyone starts with max resources. We’d see way more massive structures, it could be kinda fun.
It could even be regular Battle Royale but as a limited time event where for one week all players start with max resources. Epic recently had a mode with all gold weapons; I can't imagine this would be more difficult to implement than that (?)
Might be much more difficult because it takes a lot more resources to render structures being built, especially if everyone is building at the same time. Probably feasible but it would need some optimization
Yeah that’s what I’m sayin, maybe just implement it for a few days to see how it goes and how it’s received.
I didn’t know how much I wanted this until now, that sounds amazing and seems like it’d definitely spice things up.
There will be so many broken sky bases
Good idea, dont think it is going to happen, the lagg you already face when going to tilted + 999 materials. It would lagg to much, maybe they could make that you get 2x the number of materials tou get after chopping down some trees and rocks, just like with metal and brick in Solid Gold
That'd be cool. Although...
Infinite resources could get seriously freaky 😁
I love this idea. Just chaotic when a quarter of your team and a quarter of another team land in the same area. I’m not one of those people who like to land at tilted , for me I like to get some loot and materials before I start off’n people.
I think that's part of what this person outlined. Can't drop on to the other teams side. So you're not splitting loot with another team. Not sure how they'd do this for locations that are split like tilted
I'm all for this! Anything just to get 50v50 as a standard mode instead of a LTM.
I don't mind if we never get 50v50 as a standard mode, but I do think we should have weekly rotations so that it comes back at least once a month. Same with 20s, solid gold, and the explosive mode.
solid gold? what’s that? new to fortnite
I would love for this to be a capture the flag mode. Still one life and you have to get their flag back to your side.
I feel like 9 times out of 10 it would still come down to who wipes the other team first. Basically CTF would just eliminate the whole team running around looking for that 1 last guy hiding in a bush. Other than that I think it would be pretty similar.
It could work if you weren't out when you got killed but had to go to spawn jail for two minutes or something
CTF wouldn't work with battle royale because nobody would want to go for the flag
I would wtf
Give me a few materials, a silenced weapon, and 2 launch pads.
I love this. But surely you’ll get people complaining that they don’t get to land at Anarchy Acres, etc because of the side they’re on.
Not if they just make the center line rotate. This ensures that the game can still literally end anywhere.
In a game of RNG, would another layer of RNG hurt?
Yeah, it's like taking Kickers out of fantasy football. Kickers are too unpredictable? Well tough shit, welcome to FF, this game is as unpredictable as it gets.
Fortnite is built way more on RNG than any other battle royale game. I like that. The only bummer might be people quitting a match early because they don't get to land at their favorite place.
What happens when the sides are divided but you can see an enemy on the other side?
Is it like the storm where you can shoot through, or would it be a 'wall' that goes away?
In my mind it was a 'wall' that goes away after the looting phase
I think this is the best idea and keep bullets/players on one side until it goes down. Literally no killing until that 2 minutes is up to promote an end-game.
Reminds me of some Minecraft "Mega Walls" minigames
This could make for some funny "quickest draw" battles the moment the wall disappears.
I think the border only goes for parachuting down. Once you are on the ground, you can go wherever you want.
If that's the case we'd need both busses going in the same direction. Otherwise you just pop as soon as the doors open, land, loot, and head to the enemy side as they're just landing
Epic pls :(
Same idea I posted 3 months ago when original 50v50 was out :)
In a previous patchnote they said they are modifying it to be like this.
add a coinflip to determine which team gets which side and you're set!
That doesn't need to be clarified. How would it otherwise work?
We’ll never have fun or meaningful 50v50s as long as tilted exists.
As it is now, regardless of game type, everyone from most teams go straight for tilted every game. By the time everyone is done scrapping it out there, there’s hardly any players left and it just defeats the purpose of the entire game type
Fantastic idea. Two buses would definitely be much better
I think if the map was split vertically it would be more fair
One team gets tilted one doesn’t? I agree but others won’t
Cool idea! Would the line in the middle be random? Or would it be the same location each time.
This would just turn into a bunch of bush wookies like battlefield. I’m down
upvote that shit
How would RNG work with a split map? I have no idea how RNG works in this game (also kinda in general) but what happens if one side gets more chest and better loot?
It probably wouldn’t be that big of a deal but it would stink if that did affect the outcome of matches since each team is stuck on a certain side.
Please do this so not every fucking idiot drops at a different spot
I think being limited to what side of the map you can cross takes away some of the suspense from the beginning of the game. I dislike this idea ten fold. But that’s just me, if you like the idea of the huge team base, teammates not dying early or being spread out, and having it not as suspenseful or random. This is for you and you should play it, if it’s ever available. But I actually enjoy all the randomness from how it was. But that’s just me
Can we also get a game mode like this where each team has an ice cream truck that you have to destroy?
This is how all suggestions should be formatted. Nice work and way clearer than a text wall
Honestly I think this would be amazing the in the sense of building bases on that mid way line. Not only that but it will also allow people to go for the “flank” and try to help out a lot.
that would be interesting!
I’ve been waiting for someone to post this. I love this idea.
They should do humans vs zombies like shirts vs skins
A couple add-ons that would work well I think...
North Side OP.
I LOVE THIS!!!
Bloods vs. Crips
we had a pretty awesome 20v20 where we sat in in greasy smashing the town the hole time and built a huge base as circles kept landing on us. It was pretty fun, the enemy team finally came over the hill and started building massive ammounts on the other side... ended up both teams seemed to run out of ammo for most everything but was still pretty fun. Think I had 6 knocks with my sniper for 0 kills :P finished the game with 1100 damage 0 kills.
Our team was eventually destroyed despite it being 12 on 8.
Yeah looks better than what we had earlier
I like the idea of two sides of the island and two buses, but you should be able to land wherever you want. If you want to try to go in deep behind enemy lines, you should be allowed to take that risk.
kinda unfair in terms of loot tho
These are all the chest spawns on the map, doesn't seem too imbalanced IMO. Even if you rotate the dividing wall around the center point, it's pretty balanced.
I don't even only mean chests and weapons but also materials. 1 Team can take down wailing woods, lonely lodge and be full on wood
I think my biggest problem with 50s was not knowing who was on your team until you landed. I’d land in Retail only to realize only me and 1 other person are surrounded by 30 bad guys
100 people in Tilted Towers? Just a regular game I guess.
I talked about this a lot with my friends during 50v50 and we also like the idea of a 2 bus launch. The best concept we could come up with was to have the two buses start at opposite ends and either fly right by each other or crash into each other in the middle.
Loot would be dispersed throughout the map but the center of the camp where the buses crossed/crash would have a higher density or potentially higher rarity. This would give people the decision to jump early for safe looting opportunities or to risk the more popular center for quick/better loot.
Now that we have tilted towers I am not so sure it is 100% necessary/ideal. I'd be curious to see what Epic could come up with though.
Wouldn’t work, no pushing, only snipers,
I can imagine massive airborne battles between 2 structures protruding off the mountain
Just come play Planetside
Come just check if someone will mention good old planetside. Auraxis 4 life.
This would make 50v50 a million times better! I really hope Epic sees this and uses this concept!
Full support. Do this epic
I like the idea of these large teams, but the teams of 20 doesn’t work as well because teammates are still spread out everywhere. This is a good idea because it encourages the teams to stay in a cohesive large squad rather than wandering everywhere. It would also promote large base building.
If they can do that I think teams of 20 and above would be much more fun.
I like it, but the angle of the split should rotate freely (like how the busses do usually) so that any point can be the final location. The split should still be made known to all players.
I think the border is a good idea, however I would still allow players to cross it for high-risk plays. If a player crosses into the enemy's side, make it do they take 1-tic damage to heath like early storms. This would be fun for high-risk flanks around big bases.
Make the line rotate with plains near dusty depot as middle.
Also disable team revive or add some gimmick (like 2 players needed to revive 1), otherwise 1 team overpower the other pretty fast
Could even do 25v25v25v25 with 2 lines. I like this idea.
This is a great concept of an idea that they are likely going to do as revealed by epic
Everyone would still drop at tilted
I like it, but doesn’t the storm usually move where majority of the players are concentrated? Could you not have majority of your team anchor deep in your own territory and manipulate the storm to move to your advantage?
It does not
What they need to do to encourage building is make the zone movement highly predictable, increased the drop rate for sniper and rocket launchers, and increase the payout from gathering resources. If they do that, I think we’ll see some great big bases.
Edit: it actually might be useful to have an area that is off limits for most of the match, then have the zone close in toward that off limits area, then toward the end of the match, allow entrance into the off limits area. For example, have a mini storm over tilted towers, have the regular storm push everyone toward tilted towers, then after the second or third storm, remove the mini storm from over tilted towers. By that point, both teams will have huge bases on both sides of Tilted Towers and people can risk rushing into titled for additional loot.
I hope they randomize exactly where the map cuts in half
Shotguns would be useless.
Problem here is that Red has more marked locations.
Honestly for this and 20v20v20v20v20 their should be no bus, each team spawns in a city and then each team is grouped and can build/fight together.
I love this idea, it is great, I think I would add a one block sized neutral zone inbetween during the drop phase only, and it would be perfect.
The circle should be randomly placed along the central axis every time so that it is evenly on each half of the map. Also, line splitting the two teams could be randomized and not always straight across
ONLY ROCKET LAUNCHERS AND GRENADE LAUNCHERS AND WE BE PLAYING DODGEBALL NOW
I think the North has better loot spots. I guess have the exact amount of chest spawns at both sides.
50v50 but there's already a storm everywhere except at Loot Lake.
I read this as fifty versus fifty versus two and... kinda didn't hate the idea. Imagine how rewarding it would be to be on the team of two and actually pull off a win!
So you have to shoot across the border the entire time?
No, after the 2 minute loot time the wall drops and you can go anywhere.
That sounds cool. Just wish more would revive in the big team battles, most just run past and leave you for dead.
I think it would be better if there were simply 2 busses flying directly at each other. This would incentivize you to drop early as the other team will have already landed and gathered loot if you drop on the opposite side of the map. So naturally your team would tend to land at the large pois near where the busses start
This would be significantly more natural, wouldn’t limit which pois a team could drop, and wouldn’t require any new resources besides an additional bus.
I would love to see something like this. But good luck to the team that doesn't get the tilted towers drop.
When I saw the 50v50 trailer this is what I was thinking it would be. I like the concept of "raising the curtain" and having the surprise of 2 massive bases go at it. Itd be fun if the dividing storm shielded out all visibility too, so it'd be a complete mystery until the storm goes away
Also, it can be setup so the dividing lines angle is established randomly
You could also designate regions for 20v20. Have a couple of minutes of looting and then converge the circle in the middle.
Sneaking behind enemy lines would be fun
Who watched ceez when he would do this stuff on h1z1 custom servers? That was really cool. It'd be awesome if fortnite could make this an actual game mode.
I had a similar idea but make the division diagonal from northeast to southwest
But, this this stop 90% of the population dropping at tilted towers? xD
I really want to see these 50 man bases, maybe give more than 2 minutes however 3-4 for maximum build time.
I thought this said 50 vs 50 vs 2.
I was like, unfair, but im up to the challenge.
CDNthe3rd did something like this with his subs, was very fun to watch
Capture the flag would sound really cool as well
I like this idea a lot but personally I think it’d be cooler if only the first circle was centered on the North/South divider and any other circles could go more toward one side or another.
I think that would create a cool dynamic where one team is forced to go on the offensive and one on the defensive as opposed to always just being a stalemate. Might add some more variety to the game play.
make a mode like arma2:wasteland, and your good
My only issue with that is that there is no actual fighting until close to the final circle. The reason I prefer this game to PUBG is because the action is much more fun and consistent throughout the game, and this would make it less enjoyable for me specifically. Overall great idea tho
I'd love to see some trench-style building up with this.... trying to fortify the back most positions in case the zone gets pushed your way
Literally genius. There should also be an “infected” mode, where a smaller team has to take down players of the other team, making them switch sides. They could easily do zombies since they’re already in the game but I’m not sure if people would want that?
They really just could borrow the concept from Minecraft's the Wall where everyone farms and builds up forts at a closed area, then when the wall falls they can choose to invade others or defend their own fort.
It would have to be mirror map sides bc some players would be upset ab landing on one side bc “the other side is better”
This is how I think it should be - excuse my bad Paint and use of old map. You have a loot phase that lasts for 5 minutes. You have a travel phase that lasts for 5 minutes. During the travel phase, you are expected to get into your sides box. Then after those 2 5-minute periods have passed the middle wall comes down and the edges of your box slowly pushes everyone towards the middle for 10 minutes. Max game length of 20 minutes.
This is cool but I have one suggestion: after the first circle closes, remove the middle barrier, requiring the teams to "patrol the line" to make sure they don't get a sneaky snake on their side.
This would be like WWII
It'll kinda be cheap sincethe red team in this gets both Castle and The second best tilted building. Side space should be randomized.
I think they should have a special different map (maybe smaller) for 50v50 mode, with this exact concept, and then people have a certain amount of time to get their weapons ready, let's say 1.5 minutes, and then we get the first circle (same as yours) and each team gets 1.5 minutes to build their bases. After we are allowed to go into the other team's side, and attack them, you'd get around 5 minutes of shooting, circle gets smaller, and smaller as normal after that
Good idea. It would be good if there were a couple of different ‘splits’ though, but would have to be balanced...Maybe 8 or 10 different axis which it rotates around.
I like this alotttttt
Perhaps a more interesting concept is: every kill your team gets, shrinks the enemy team's safe zone.
However, I haven't played any of these Battle Royale games, so it's very much an outsider's perspective. I don't really like no respawn games, especially since my 2nd life is pretty much always my best. So even just having 1 respawn is infinitely better for me. No idea how well the concept would actually work in Fortnite or PUBG or anything.
Tilted towers gon be lit again tho
make a cross platform 50 V 50 Ps4 V Xbox
This. And add full team voice chat. Well you can hear 1 person from every other squad talking at a time.
The person in the squad can say if any teammates need jelly/aids or help somewhere that they aren't at.
My only issue with this is that the beginning would be pretty slow and boring, but the end would definitely be fun as hell.
Few ideas include: Same bus and no line initially, however after first minute the lines are set and you must get to your own part.
Rotating line like others have suggested so it's not always the same.
Every line shrink, a few players from each team get marked as a 'lurker', these players are able to cross the line at will temporarily. Maybe add some more mechanics to enhance this idea. But this would counter 'stragglers' or lone looters from each team. Possibly even having them act like sappers.
Sorry for terrible formatting, currently on mobile and I might edit once on PC
yup this is perfect
This is a fantastic idea, but how do you balance it? Whoever gets more of Tilted/Retail/Pleasant will almost always win.
I’d love to try it, though.
Love this idea, this would be so much fun
I like the idea of two buses but that's about it.
Limiting player movement so there is no conflicts except at the line is really pointless, since the first half of the game would just be gathering materials and scavenging without fear of dying and then going to the line to fight. If that's the case, just give everyone weapons materials to start with. The whole idea now is that the more scavenging you do, the more risk you have of dying. It's an essential game mechanic that can't be removed.
i think it would be great to have each team start on opposite sides of the map and then continually push forward until a natural front line develops.
50v50 capture the flag!
Plot twist: everyone still drops at tilted towers
Good concept. I will most likely snore during the looting phase tho
