But did they jaywalk?

It’s not jaywalking if you’re white. Just being efficient using the shortest path between point A and B.

And if they get hit by a car while jaywalking, they get to even sue the driver for tens of thousands of dollars to pay for their medical bills.

10s of thousands for medical bills :(

Jollyrainbow

I've looked it up and there's literally not even a translation of jaywalking in my language, that's how little of an offense we think it is. We just assume that the punishment is being hit by a car if you're not careful.

American's shit on other countries for their laws when it's illegal to cross the fucking road in theirs.

Ayy_2_Brute

A law that is only on the books because of the auto-industry and their push to make streets for cars, not pedestrians.

Tens of thousands of people are ticketed for this crime every year. Fines up to $250. All because car manufacturers wanted to change the idea that cars had to avoid people

a_demon_ninja
25

That's one of the good things about NYS, there is no offence known as that and pedestrians have "ultimate right of way." If someone jumps in front of your car you better have a dash cam to prove you had zero reaction time before hitting them or else you as the driver are getting a charge.

Merari01

It wasn't a thing in the US either until a sustained lobbying effort by the automobile industry to punish pedestrians for the existence of careless drivers.

Sad but true, reminds me of literally any mass shooting we see

Literally any race but white: fucking terrorists?!?! We need to close our borders!! Stupid libtards letting these people into our country?? This is why we need more guns, these people are obviously sick and we need to keep them out and keep guns out of their hands

White dude: oh no it's so sad, where did we go wrong? He obviously has a mental condition that caused this or it was obviously a false flag by the Dems to push gun control thoughts and prayers and guns for the teachers this man was obviously a fluke so it shouldn't be used as a reason to regulate guns more tightly

It never fails, race will always play into these peoples narratives, just watch it happen over the next few that will sadly inevitably happen, likely within the next few months, or just go back on this website and look at the stark differences in discussion between mass shootings when it's a white guy, and when it's any other race

Heloooo /r/PublicFreakout

The one that sticks was a video where two black women where being beat by shop keepers. 2 CCTV videos and one phone camera footage later the police concluded that the women were not at fault. publicfreakout on the other hand...

It was prime material. They have a fetish for women being beat and saying things like "its black culture to be violent."

Eman5805

"its black culture to be violent."

And that’s the crux of it all. Why else do they leap to mental illness as an excuse when specific someone’s opens fire on a Wal-Mart but a drive by is just bad people who should be in prison.

No one talks about mental health in connection with gang violence. It’s just assumed they are normal. Their normal is just violent and wicked.

The law, in its majestic equality, forbids the rich as well as the poor to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal bread.

JakeOfDerpia

Fine payments should really be based on the offenders income in the US to affect rich peope more. In Finland in 2009, iirc, a businessman got a fine of 112,000€ for driving 82kmph in a 60kmph zone

eliechallita
160

Which gets even more ridiculous when you realize that many police departments treat fines like revenue generating tool, so they might as well fine the rich speeding asshole for 50K than harass two hundred poor people for 250 each

reddeath82

That rich asshole probably donates to the sheriff's campaign and buys tickets to the policeman's ball every year. The cops don't bust their friends regardless of how much money it could make them.

If you're black in the southeast, and do 20+ over the limit you can be arrested and you will be fined double due to the "super speeder" law(in GA). I add the "if you're black" part because I've seen it done. They'll hit you with reckless driving (+6 on your license) and or reckless endangerment (another +6). Which means immediate suspension of your license and possible jail time.

fbcmfb

My first two speeding tickets were 15 minutes apart. I sped like crazy when I was younger all over this country. I can honestly say I got 30 speeding tickets, but I never was thrown in jail (I was active duty).

I don’t think they cared I was serving the country, but there was someone higher up that could help me “fight” because I was property of the U.S. government at the time.

Note: a good portion of my tickets were in Rhode Island. Their speeding tickets were just $75 (a bargain compared to other states) and you just mailed in the payment. The points never got into my license because I had out of state licenses (allowed when on AD).

Where there's smoke there's fire.

But don't take my word on it, read all of the information and slowly walk to the conclusion for yourself, no leaps or big steps required.

Epstein and Trump were buddies. Trump even hosted a party for Epstein at Mar-a-lago in which they were the only 2 guests, with dozens of women brought in to entertain them. In 2002 Trump called Epstein a “terrific guy” who "likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side." (source)

Subverting Justice through witness tampering and murder does not make him less guilty, in fact, it makes the opposite more likely. And if he is too slimy for our current legal system, let him fry in the court of public opinion.

Definitely not. I think the trouble here is that people trying to prevent further investigation would not have to do all that much to make him dead. That is, regular prison guards of average temperament and morals would feel justified in killing him, too. The same people cheering his death as an "end" of his activity would be just as blinded when given the responsibility to protect him.

The wonderful life in white America.

It's not just the US, although you guys have many more extremes. I am a white male and live in the Netherlands. Whenever I would put in a job application, chances are that I'm chosen over someone with a foreign-sounding name or a different skin color. We had some discussions to make application letters anonymous but that didn't happen yet. So it's more of a sort of hidden prejudice or racism.

It's true that, for instance, Maroccons or people from the Dutch Antilles, Turks, and Surinam over here are relatively high in the crime stats but I just hate when loads of people tarnish normal behaving people from there with the same brush. Just judge people by their behavior but for some, that seems impossible to do. Certainly with people like Geert Wilders and the like keeping pushing that agenda that all are evil and criminals.

If there is one thing I hate its injustice :(

I definitely give a fuck. No one gives a fuck when trump supporters bring it up because they completely ignore that trump had ties to Epstein too. They aren't interested in actual justice so much as seeing the Clintons go down. They completely miss the fact that the state of american politics is that both a past and current president had ties to a sex trafficking ring.

They miss the point that our entire capitalist system has been crafted to serve the wealthy and fuck everyone else over.

Dasrufken

I love the genius behind the Country Club concept. You get a post like this, that is manipulated up and meant to be bridged by trolls through comments to direct the discussion to Clinton and away from Trump's connection with Epstein.

Then after the manipulated upvotes have been ordered by the geotrolls the thread gets changed to C.C. mode ruining their planned manipulation. The post still rises but the only people who can now comment are verified human.

BPT is beta testing a solution to unregulated manipulation on reddit, and that is required human verification. Subs need to be given an option to require human verification tests for every post, point, and comment if reddit wants to save itself from complete ruin. The problem is getting noticeably worse, with no sign of improving without a drastic change like that.

Yes!! This a million times!!

I’m a member of r/fo76 based on the video game Fallout 76. Every time the Bethesda (the game creators) do(n’t) something that the general fan base disagrees with, the fan base gets pretty vocal in that sub. Then Bethesda sends their MASSIVE PR team out into the comments and the sub itself to stir up favorable comments for the game. A former employee recently posted in that sub how Bethesda owned tons (probably hundreds) of reddit accounts that the PR team used to come in and massively downvote game criticism, upvote BS posts and create favorable propaganda.

Granted, a video game sub is no where near as serious as this thread is. I can only imagine the peace of mind it would grant people knowing that they were dealing real people and not bots.
