He didn’t want the extra points on his license
Obviously he wasn't driving a BMW, Audi or Mercedes.
....I’m never the first one to comment with my “original” witty comments. Have your god damn upvote.
If you ever think your life is worthless just remember that somebody, somewhere, has a job installing signal lights on a BMW.
Poor nice guy in Panic mode
I always wondered if you signaled left and turned right the cops would be dumbfounded and fall for it. "He's signaling left. I got him...wait! HE TURNED RIGHT! I LOST HIM!"
Put on your hazards and go straight
Those hazard boys are at it again!
When I was a kid (like 6-7) I thought putting your turn signal on forced the car to turn that way. I didn't realize the driver was doing it. I remember one time I saw a car going through an intersection with its hazards on and was expecting it to tear in half and each half turn in a different direction. I was super disappointed when it didn't.
It's not raining here in Florida
there should be a bot for this.
Came here to link this. Was very happy you already had :)
I forgot about that line "hey man he's ragging on your chord"
"Boy, this guy knows some maneuvers"
This is supposedly how you evade a tail. Drive like an idiot until your follower makes a mistake.
i don’t care what anyone says, i thouroughly enjoyed burn notice.
There was dash cam footage of a car chase in Milwaukee, WI where the suspect did it. Happens just after the 5 min mark. https://youtu.be/It-0q8gG_cY
I like to pull this stunt on my father-in-law when ever he is following me somewhere.
That was my go-to move in high school when we’d have car chases with friends.
It wouldn't trick the helicopter
Maybe the person in op’s story was setting them up for this. Like signal correctly over and over then take your one opportunity to signal incorrectly and lose them lol.
My dad knew a guy when he was in his early 20's that put his taillights on a kill switch. He had a Pontiac Firebird with quite a bit of work done. One night out in the middle of nowhere he was caught speeding cop lights him up, he punches it. he waits till he gets quite a distance on the cop and then kills his tail lights and immediately makes a turn. He slows down, thinking he lost the cop. The cop turns down the same road he did.
This goes on for 4 or 5 different roads when he finally gives up and just pulls over. The cop comes up and tells him killing the taillights was clever and would have worked had he not signaled for every turn he made. Apparently, the blinkers were not on the kill switch.
This is absolutely hilarious!
I would've just gotten shot...
Last compliment I received from a cop was at a music festival. I ended up preventing a fight between two people over something stupid. The cop came up to me and complimented me on my ability to handle the situation and said "the force needs more people like you"... I was high as fuck on LSD
Sure you weren't talking to Yoda?
There were people dancing. I think, or maybe they were cops I think they might have been cops But anyway like it I was just dancing and dancing Oh no they were cops Shit This fucking cop just looked at me. And I don't know whether he was really saying it all he kept saying was. Eat sleep rave, repeat.
yea this was probably back in the mid 70's. they didn't care as much back then.
Cool, he’d be dead today!
what about the headlights?
definitely visible but much harder to see and if you can get some distance on the cop easy to miss turning into a side street.
I did something very similar in my car. I killed all the lights and punched it and then held down the switch to flash my brights. I was going 140 over the next hill by the time the cops want over the first. They probably thought I straight up disappeared, LOL
lol. Incidentally I have learned that putting down my e-brakes just a touch kills the rear running lights.
Not sure why. I don't think it stops brake lights though.
Reckless Driving? MY ASS! I used my turn signals the whole way
It's only a careless ticket
Fitting username checking in.
And yet nobody here in Florida can use them.
Nobody in Indiana either. Great when a semi decided to not use them too.
California is a land where all standard lights on or around the car are forgotten or ignored. Turn signals, lights on when it's raining, stoplights...
Can confirm. Source: from Indiana. Currently live in CO Springs, and everyone here is a terrible driver. And rage-y. Guy followed me to my job because I honked after he ran a stop sign and cut me off.
Every time I see a Florida driver in NJ, they always hit their signal once, then leave it on for the next twenty minutes.
We get the same problem with NJ drivers down here in Florida. I'm going to blame travelling through Georgia; I think that state screws up people's driving abilities when they cross it going either way.
The only time I've ever been to the US, I had a Florida plate on my rental. However, since in my country we're quite respectful of turnsignals, I use mine all the time. I'm sure a lot of people around on the road must've been surprised.
My god. How do you survive?
Literally, driving is the most dangerous thing everyone does and 30-45% of those on the road can't do it yet, they're still handed a license.
I just got back from trip to Florida, and I thought Virginia was bad. Do you guys even have drivers education courses? I almost got ran off the road multiple times.
The problem is we have drivers from everywhere, we have no consistency when it comes to our bad drivers. Old people make up a lot of the bad drivers as well, you have to be extremely alert at all times to avoid accidents.
I mean shit, one less thing to cite him for.
Can we stop suing this shitty site already? I can't ever load it
Yeah i have to look at the thumbnail in order to see when they use it
Nobody uses these sites, they're used by bots to repost and make ad money. I'm more surprised they get upvotes, probably also bots.
Is there a class action lawsuit in progress?
I say we start suing.
Only break one law at a time!
In LA (probs the rest of the state and the other 49 as well) whatever traffic violations you pull during the chase gets added onto the list of violations to be put in front of the judge other than what you're originally being chased for. The smart ones follow the rules to some extent, stopping at stop signs, yielding, stuff like that, hence sticking mostly to highways. The ones who don't know and the ones who don't give a fuck go for broke.
TIL. I wonder what violations this guy got for driving onto the light rail tracks underground:
My God the shout casting.
"Going like he's on rails because he is on rails".
Someone paid good money for those turn signals, he might as well use them.
One of the many tips on Burn Notice was about being pursued in a car chase. It's more about being a bad driver than speeding. Signaling and turning the wrong way. Driving through lights or stop signs. Tripping people up until they make a mistake and then your gone.
Yeah, but Burn Notice teaches you about as much about being an actual spy as it teaches you the nutritional value of yogurt. I don't know that I would really trust advice from that show...
Cover your entire car in old phonebooks to make it bulletproof
Being a spy is probably really boring. Dont some of these guys have to spend years and years of their lives just pretending to live like a normal dude?
You do that for a mile or two, then signal the wrong way and lose the cops. Genius.
Anyone got a Mobile mirror?
"My man"-Denzel Washington
You see, you use your signals and actually do what you signal a few times, then wham! hit him with the ol' switcharoo and turn the other way. The cops'll never know what happened until you're long gone!
lol idk how to explain it but its a habit for me, even when i am turning around in a parking lot my hands automatically go to the turn signal stalk. did this even at the track few times.
Do what OJ Simpson did. Don't make any turns
Was it an Audi or BMW? If so the use of indicators was probably intended to startle and confuse.
One less infraction when they take him in.
That's a sign they are a good person.
This image hosting site doesn't work on my phones.
Smart, keep from them adding charges of “Failure to Signal” to the arrest list.
Dude he's ragging on your cord
Deep pull! Ref: https://youtu.be/dfNJD0eZE_o
Scumbag op uses a site that RES does not support.
The one in Toronto?
What's a matter with this thing
I once worked with a guy who did... something. I forget what. This was in 1999 or so, so the details are fuzzy. But, whatever he did got 4 cops chasing him. I remember him claiming to have outrun the cops for over a half hour in a shitty Ford Escort. Anyway, the point is, that during this chase he turned into a field and tried to escape through it. His car got stuck almost immediately in the field because it'd been raining earlier in the day. But his point was he used his turn signals before turning into the field, which he thought somehow made him immune from getting in trouble over whatever he did.
Not really related, but your post made me remember the story. I still don't think he would have been able to outrun cops in an Escort, though. The entire story sounded like bullshit at the time, but in 1999 there was no easy way to verify a story like that.
I saw that too... The dudes who pulled the cop into their car then fled. I was watching and thougt it was rather nice of that guy to clarify the direction he was feeing in.
I actually did this once when I was getting chased down by a car I almost hit (by accident, mind you).
Still got away, but habit almost got my ass kicked.
First clue: it wasn't a Bimmer.
I saw one in s suburban Tampa 2 weeks ago and he was not considerate at all. I missed my opportunity to put manuever him though and I'll never overcome my failure.
Gotta let the cops know where you're turning.
Was this in Victoria bc?
Did they stop at the red lights as well?
Every infraction adds up.
This sounds like in Malcolm in the Middle, Reece goes through a speed chase and then goes through his driver's ed course.
I bet he wasn't driving a stolen NAME, we all know that turn signals don't work on those vehicles.
That's amazing! I was behind a pos last week, 3 turns, not lane-changes, legit turns onto streets and boulevards...zero blinkers.
What level of narcissism must one achieve to think they don't need to bother safely/lawfully communicating in LA traffic???
Obviously I can't post his license plate but it was a vanity plate that basically said he was born to be a star. Surprise surprise.
That's how people drive where I live. Nobody cares about speed limits, traffic lights, or driving in the wrong direction, but most people use the turn signals.
Using turn signals should be an automatic thing. If you have to think about using turnsignals maybe you are not the correct person to drive. Guy getting chased by cops was probably a pretty decent driver. Like not necessary a showoff, but just the kind of person that thinks: ''Hey, I can drive but what about those other 500 to 1000 people I run into on the road daily. Maybe I should clarify to them aswell what my plans are even though I think I am the best driver that makes the best calls on the road.'' (the peoplle that only think the latter are normally the ones that think some rules don't apply to them).
I also say a live police chase yesterday! Almost got hit by the person fleeing the police! In Cali?
